When Gloriana XII of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick faces national bankruptcy, what else is there to do but declare war on the most powerful nation of the world? What is worse, what happens when they win?
The Mouse that Roared is a hilarious story of longbows and arrows, Q-bombs, and mad professors who accidentally set the world on edge. With aristocrats against the proletariat, professors enduring rioting students, presidents meeting princesses, and a love story thrown in, you can be sure it will keep audiences rolling with laughter. With a cast who will ensure mild hysteria and a rollicking good time, you are invited to witness the political fall-out and rejoice with their unexpected results.

This is Margot Bishop’s first appearance at Centre Stage. She has appeared in several productions of W.O.W. and sings a cappella at Open Mics and Night Kitchens. A Wolfville resident for the past 15 years, Margot (with a ‘t’) has frequently been an audience member of CentreStage. After working at a Bingo performance and seeing an open call for auditions in The Grapevine, this 9th generation planter decided to try the ‘boards’.

The first time in a true comedy role, Brian Cottam is looking forward to the challenges involved with it and laughter from the audience. As a video production professional, Brian is used to being behind the scenes and enjoys the friendly and open atmosphere here at the CentreStage Theatre. Brain was last seen as Colonel Metcalf in the January production of The Mousetrap.

Glenn Cottam is in his last year at Kings County Academy in Kentville. He enjoys Air Cadets and goes to CentreStage Theatre camps. He was Barthel Mulehead in the production of The Kings New Clothes. This is his first big performance on the stage. He enjoys playing the flute and is in the school band. He is thinking of taking up the piccolo so he can play with his 17 year old cousin, and with the band in cadets. His hope and dream is to get his pilot licence.

Gary Corbin is pleased to make his first appearance on CentreStage in a role first played by one of his acting idols, Peter Sellers. Born and raised in Kentville, did several productions when he was in school, as well as several benefit dinner theatres in Sheffield Mills. Gary invites everyone to sit back, have a laugh, and enjoy. In words of Tully Bascomb, "Welcome to the National Forest of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, stay a while. Oh, and don’t mind the mouse!"

Rebecca Crouse is a crazy mother of two teenage boys who lives in New Minas and is thrilled to be onstage with CentreStage Theatre. She has always had a love for live theatre and is extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of The Mouse That Roared. Another accomplishment for this “unfinished woman”.

Darrell Doucette is excited to get involved with CentreStage Theatre. This is his first performance and would like to thank Roger for giving him the opportunity. He was involved with a drama group while in high school, both on and off stage, and hopes to do the same with CentreStage.

Christine Enserink is a homemaker. She has always wanted to try acting and enjoys comedy in general. She believes laughter is the best medicine. This is Christine’s first appearance at CentreStage Theatre.

Aarron Haggerty, a 26 year old Addictions Counselling student, hasn’t done any theatre since high school. Between school and working security at the County Fair Mall, Aarron can be seen traveling the province, performing inside a wrestling ring. Aarron says he is very excited to be back on a theatre stage, and says “there is no feeling like being in front of a crowd!”

LeRoy Heffernan is a semi-retired neurologist. Recently he has learned to play the bass clarinet and soprano saxophone but felt he would like another entry for his Bucket List so he turned to the stage. Though by nature and inclination a bit of a ham, he has never before “acted” and, quite possibly, after this performance may never be asked to do so again. But let’s hope for the best!

Mike Holland’s first attempt at theater takes him almost to the top. Cast in the role of Secretary of State, Mike has found this venture rewarding and fun. Originally from the west, Mike has called the Valley home for the past ten years. When not on stage, Mike enjoys travel, sports and most important, family and friends.

Linda Kearley was born in Ontario and raised in Nova Scotia. She got interested in the arts and theater in university when she took drama. She graduated from Saint Mary’s with a Master of Arts. Chloe Moore, is 16 years old and lives in Berwick. She is in grade 10 at Central Kings High School. She has lived in Nova Scotia since she was 13 years old. Before that she lived in Munich, Germany for 6 years and attended Munich International School. She is fluent in German and is currently learning how to speak French. In her spare time she loves to ski competitively, play soccer, cheerlead and spend time with her friends and family. This is her second acting project and will definitely continue her craft at becoming a stage performer.

Kelvin Ogilvie lives on the edge of the Bay of Fundy and has long appreciated CentreStage, its performances and its contribution to the community. Kelvin was compelled to try for the Count Mountjoy role by the persuasiveness of the Director, The Rev Dr. Holiness, who convinced him that it would be superb training for his current day job in the Senate. Kelvin first appeared as the Bishop in See How They Run.

Emily Oickle has been involved in CentreStage for what seems like eons. She has been seen most recently as Bernice in Bingo, but other favorite roles include Catherine from Waiting for the Parade, and Annabel Glick in Lucky Stiff. She sincerely hopes you enjoys the show, and gives heartfelt thanks for choosing CentreStage as the Best Entertainment Venue in Kings County!

Wendy Purkis was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She moved to Nova Scotia and attended Saint Mary’s university. She was actively involved in sports and has always remained a true blue CFL Roughriders fan. She graduated from Saint Mary’s with BA. She has over eleven years experience working in TV and movie productions and is a member of Actra. She has always been interested in other areas of the arts and decided get actively involved in a production to learn about different aspects of theater.

Wendy Robinson has returned to the Annapolis Valley after living outside Canada for close to 20 years. Her first experience with theatre was at the age of 8 when she played the lead role in Cinderella. Fifteen years later she attended Neptune Theatre School where her interest in live theatre grew. This is Wendy’s first appearance on Centre Stage and she is excited to be part of this delightful comedy.

After playing a role in Any Number Can Die in the fall of 2009, Janet Westhaver caught the “bug”. “I am excited with continuing my theatre experience with The Mouse That Roared.”

Twenty-one year old Nick Wojtas aims to become a professional photographer/artist in the future. Last year he graduated from NSCC in Middleton with a Graphic Design Diploma. It was Nick’s Parents, girlfriend and his brother who inspired him to try out.

Born in Toronto, Dave Gibson did theater in high school. He is a retired bus driver from Metro Transit in Halifax. He was crew and prop-maker for The Mousetrap, assistant stage manager for The Last of Jane Austen, and crew and prop-maker for The Mouse that Roared. He is also making his debut on-stage in this show.

Fresh from the role of Chris in The Mousetrap, Tim Hawkins is again in the role of Stage Manager with the same passion as seen on stage. From Kentville, he is happy to be part of the excitement that CentreStage brings to his home town, and will continue to do so in the future.

After attending CentreStage’s Summer Theatre Camp in 2008, Caelan developed an interest in the production of plays from behind the scenes, and is thrilled to be part of “The Mouse That Roared”. When not placing props, Caelan plays trombone in the Kings County Academy Grade 8 Band, with his best friend, Glenn Cottam.
