Two elderly, usually quite proper sisters in a small town inexplicably have developed a passion for watching boxing on television. When a shabby transient shows up at their door looking for odd jobs, they spot a photo of him in boxing trunks and excitedly invite him to stay for dinner. Throwing caution to the wind, the sisters decide to get him back into fighting form.
Is he who they think he is, or is he a glib opportunist reveling in the attentions of two old ladies? Will he demolish their dream or provide them with a satisfying adventure in their waning years?

Anke Van Ek, of Kentville, enjoys the camaraderie of the theatre. She made her debut on CentreStage last year as “Abby” in Arsenic and Old Lace. In this appearance as “Margaret”, there are once again two nice old lady sisters who team together - only this time nobody dies. “Gotta love it.”

Nancy Henry has been involved with CentreStage for 18 years. For Nancy, it is like playing dress-up, only with white hair!! Since retirement, she has become very involved with the Kings-Kikima Grannies, who are helping grandmothers in Kenya raise their grandchildren. Both endeavours are fulfilling in different ways.

Branaghlee Lane is excited to work with new people and is happy to have Candy as director again after the great experience of Here on the Flight Path. You may also recognize her from Don’t Dress for Dinner, or if you have visited her boutique, boso bamboo, in Wolfville.

David Lane last appeared as John Cummings in Here on the Flight Path. David runs his own small handy-man/maintenance business, “Consider It Done”, and lives in Kingsport. He is excited to work with Candy again, and all the cast and crew in The Last of Jane Austen.

Brenda Ellis lives in Hantsport with her family. She is the mother of two busy teenagers, and when not rehearsing, she is found at her desk in Halifax or in a high school gym cheering on her daughter’s basketball team. As a musician, Brenda has worked in countless pit orchestras. This is her first time on stage. She would like to thank her family and friends for the support and encouragement as she makes her acting début.

Although Wayne Dupuis is a literature buff who loves the Romantics (such as Samuel Coleridge and Lord Byron), and an individual who has been known to write or tell the odd story, acting is something completely new for him. In this début performance he hopes to not only entertain, but also to begin his love affair with the theatre.

Keegan Shane Martin from Dartmouth appears for the first time at CentreStage Theatre in the roles of the Boxing Commissioner and the Network Executive. He is also the assistant stage manager for this production. He is currently “a college kid pursuing a dream.”

Andrew Comeau of Digby is returning from a hiatus of being on stage since his last role as “Norman, The Timid Tailor” in his grade 10 high school rendition of the play Chicken Heart. This is his first time doing stage management. He is excited to be involved with the theatre once again and hopes you all enjoy the show.
