Farndale Cast
The Farndale ... Murder Mystery

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery

David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr

September 16, 17, 18, 24, 25, October 1, 2, 3 (2 pm matinee), 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23

Every drama group has experienced the horrors of what can go wrong on the night and the ladies of the F.A.H.E.T.G. Dramatic Society are no different, with the possible exception that almost everything that could happen does. The scenery collapses, cues are missed, lines forgotten, and the sound effects take on a strange note at times, as the ladies present their ambitious evening's entertainment with the cunning whodunit, "Murder At Checkmate Manor".

Cherie

Phoebe Reece

Phoebe Reece, chairwoman of the Dramatic Society, lives with the lighting man, Adrian, and their two feline companions. She is on the international committee for the Townswomen’s Guilds, and in that capacity, she has attended two international conferences in Oslo.

Sharon

Thelma Greenwood

Thelma Greenwood has appeared as the leading lady in all Farndale productions. She would like to thank her devoted fans for once again choosing her as “Miss Farndale”, because really, why wouldn’t you? Thelma is the secretary, treasurer, and vice- chairwoman of the Guild. At least that way, she knows the jobs will get done properly.

Nicole

Audrey Forbes-Farquahar

Audrey Forbes-Farquahar is appearing in her very first production with the F.A.H.E.T.G.D.S. Audrey is happy to take time from her busy schedule of shopping to be in this show. She was happy that the rehearsals fell between her spa treatments! Audrey loves sunny days and fluffy kittens.

Emily

Felicity Crabtree

Felicity Crabtree lives with her husband, Giles, and their lovely daughter, Lucy. She was first seen in the F.A.H.E.T.G.D.S. presentation of A Christmas Carol. Although she is new to the society, she has already gained much appreciation for the leadership of Mrs Reece, and thanks Mrs Reece for another wonderful opportunity to perform.

Sylvia

Sylvia Frobisher

Sylvia Frobisher is well known to audiences of the Dramatic Society. She lives in the outskirts of York with her husband, eight darling children, and a very patient au pair. She was last seen as Banquo, Lady Macduff’s son, and the Second Witch in the F.A.H.E.T.G.D.S. production of Macbeth.

Brian

Gordon Pugh

Gordon Pugh has worked at Fulofhum Self- Service Hardware as stock boy for the past 15 years. He’d like to thank his boss, Tom Fulofhum, for the time off and his Mother and cat for their love and support. He cites William Shatner as his inspiration and would like to give a shout out to his Dungeons and Dragons mates. Cheers!

Stephen

Lance Peabody III

Lance Peabody III has directed in many community theatres across the Yorkshire Dales. He is highly sought after as a director by many of the Townswomen’s Guilds. His greatest aspiration is to someday direct real actors in a real play.

Paul

Inmarg Gerbman

Inmarg Gerbman has greatly enjoyed his experience of apprenticing in England. He will take back to his acting company in Europe many important lessons. “Farndale women are an inspiration for all experimental theatre. Death, love and existential angst all just below the surface. How they turn every ‘accident’ into high art leaves me stunned still.”

Adrian Reece

Adrian Reece recently retired from teaching Sixth Form at St. Hugh’s College. He has little interest in performing on stage but, when Phoebe became chairwoman of the Dramatic Society, he agreed to be the lighting person for Murder at Checkmate Manor. After many rehearsals, the result is tonight’s production. Enjoy the show!

Roberta Gillhooly

Roberta Gillhooly is the Society’s Sound Manager, which has become an easier task since she received her hearing aids. She donated the fine gramophone that is used for tonight's sound effects.

Maribel Glick

Maribel Glick is the Assistant Stage Manager for tonight’s performance of Murder at Checkmate Manor. Unfortunately, during an early rehearsal she sustained a injury to her right wrist. However, she’s a firm believer in the dictum that “The Show Must Go On”.....and on. She’s also on the lookout for a good ‘second hand’ store.

Mathilde Cavendish

Mathilde Cavendish runs the adult learning classes at the Farndale Open University. She teaches classes in tatting, macramé, and woodburning. She has produced all the costumes for tonight’s fashion show, as she has for the past twenty years.

The Understudies

Chérie Zinck (understudy for Mrs Reece) is a kept woman. She lives in Port Williams with the lighting man and their two cats.

Sharon Churchill Roe (understudy for Mrs Greenwood) lives in Garland’s Crossing with her husband. She manages the Language Studies Programs at Acadia University. She has performed in nearly thirty shows at CentreStage and was most recently seen in Bingo! The Musical.

Nicole Myra (understudy for Ms Forbes-Farquahar) is excited to be back for her third performance at CentreStage. She was most recently seen in The Mousetrap and Cinderella! Cinderella! During the winter she works at Acadia. She loves to spend time with her two children.

Emily Oickle (understudy for Mrs Crabtree) lives in Kentville with a very supportive boyfriend. She has been seen in Bingo! The Musical as well as See How they Run. In her “free time” she is a self-employed caterer.

Brian Smit (understudy for Gordon Pugh) makes a living in Grafton as a dairy farmer. In his spare time he treads the boards. His cats, dogs and cows all think he is insane as he rehearses his lines in front of them. He was most recently seen in The Mousetrap.

Stephen Abbass (Understudy for the Director) has directed numerous shows at Centre Stage as well as gracing the stage from time to time. In real life he is owner of Cooke Sales in Halifax and takes direction from his lovely wife, Catherine.

Farndale is Paul Abela’s (Assistant Director) first experience of the other side--of the stage. “What a wonderful opportunity to learn the directorial ropes with a great director and cast.” Away from the stage, Paul performs regularly as a professor in the Philosophy Department at Acadia University. He hides out in Scot’s Bay with his wife and daughter.

We would also like to thank the following understudies: Ernest Zinck (Adrian Reece), Roberta Gillhooly (Cyndy Kenley), Maribel Glick (Nancy Henry), Mathilde Cavendish (Lana Churchill).
